Frequently Asked Question
Whether you’re looking to speed dial Pastor Ron or Domino’s Pizza, we’ll walk you through the process of managing your own phone so you can quickly update your programmable keys. But if you don’t want to update it yourself, you can always submit a ticket with the changes you’d like made.
The steps to updating your phone will depend on the specific model of phone that you have, but they are fairly similar. We will give some general steps here that you can follow along with. To do this process, you’ll need your phone, a computer with internet access, and your 6-digit voicemail pin. What? You’ve already got that together? Well let’s get started then!
- Go to https://oneplace.alaskacommunications.com/ and log in. If you’ve already created an account, it will be your Mountain City Church/ACS phone number and the alphanumeric password you previously created for the One Place system. If this is your first time seeing this screen, you’ll use your phone number and your 6-digit voicemail pin to log in. You will be required to create an alphanumeric password upon login. You can see a video tutorial about this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-f6fRHECb0
- Once you log in, you’ll see the OnePlace dashboard with various information, quick links, and options. We will go to the bottom of the screen in the blue bar and click on ‘Devices’ under Personal Details.
- In the pop-up, click on ‘set keys’
- A new window will load. When it loads, you will see an image of your phone model. Click the button ‘Edit’ under the phone model.
- Depending on your phone model and setup, the next steps may vary. If you have a phone without a sidecar (an additional device attached to your phone giving more quick-dial options) you will only edit the ‘Programmable Keys – Line’ options. If you have a sidecar, you will only edit ‘Sidecar 1’ options. For this example, we will act as if we are editing a standard phone with no sidecar.
- Open the option you wish to edit, in our case ‘Programmable Keys – Line’
- Key 1 MUST be set to the following:
Soft key action: Line
Line: Line 1
Label: **Your phone number** - Key 2 SHOULD be set to the following:
Soft key action: Line
Line: Line 1
Label: **Your phone number** - Keys 3 to the end of the list can be customized with the contacts you would like to have quick access to. To edit these, open the key you wish to edit (the keys go top to bottom, left to right)
- Set the Soft key action to one of the following options:
- Enhanced Monitored Extension – for someone within the ACS/Mountain City Church system with an extension
- Speed Dial – for contacts outside of the ACS/Mountain City Church system
- Note: We do not recommend using any of the other options as they are not commonly used within our system. If you wish to use one of these options, please work with IT to ensure that your phone service is not interrupted by any changes.
- For Enhanced Monitored Extensions:
- Extension: Enter the extension number or contact name of the person you wish to add
- Use Subscriber Name as Label: No
- Label: Enter the name of the person as it should display on your phone
- For Speed Dial:
- Number: Enter the 10-digit phone number of the contact (with area code)
- Label: Enter the name of the person as it should display on your phone
- Repeat the steps, defining all of the contacts you’d like to see on your phone.
- When done, at the bottom-right of the window, click the blue ‘Save changes’ button. Note: If you use a sidecar the steps are similar, but you’ll be editing the keys in ‘Sidecar 1’ rather than in ‘Programmable Keys – Line’
- Once the changes have been saved, you’ll need to update your phone to reflect these changes. Again, these steps vary a bit by phone, but they are similar.
- On your phone press the Home button to the right of your display and navigate to the Settings option.
- In Settings, go to ‘Basic’
- Scroll through the list of options until you find ‘Update Configuration’ and select this option.
- When asked, ‘Are you sure?’, select ‘Yes’
- A message will pop up saying ‘Please wait’ on your phone and the changes you’ve made will soon be applied to your phone.
- Confirm that everything has applied correctly and make any corresponding changes by repeating the previous steps.
